Have you ever run your hand down the soft underside of a wild roaming southern sting ray? You’ll have the chance at Stingray City on Grand Cayman Island, British West Indies. SRC (as the locals call it) is a treat even if it is a bit crazy mixing divers, sting rays, and current together in shallow water. Fortunately for us, there was only one other private boat out the day we visited. Notice the nice form… keeping the fins off the sandy bottom? This all started many years ago when the local fishermen were cleaning their catch at a certain area in the North Sound; the stingrays got used to interacting with humans, and then eventually divers and snorkelers.
