The Narrows of the Virgin River… if you have a drysuit, a wading staff, 5-6 hours to spare, and a pack to cart the photography gear and drinking water… the “wading hike” up the largest slot canyon in the world is PHENOMENAL. Every bend in the river’s course, there is another gorgeous scene worthy of pulling the camera out of its water-tight carrying case and setting up the tripod (low light filters down through the tight canyon walls). This section of The Narrows up near “Wall Street” looks a bit like another well known destination in Zion which is called The Subway, but that is another and longer hike. The pink light thrown off by the red canyon walls is stunning here in The Narrows, and nearby in The Temple of Sinawava.
Canon 7D, ISO100, f29, 2secs, RAW, focal length 20mm, tripod, ND filter in RAW and minimal processing in CS5. Zion National Park, near Springdale, Utah, USA.
