High Alert by

Striking out on their own, this band of cow elk broke off from the larger herd and was on alert, intently scanning the north. Wolves have been known to drop into this open plain called the National Elk Refuge, Jackson, Wyoming, USA.

The cows trotted nervously from one corner of the Refuge to another, all the while their steamy breath was catching the rising sun. Canon 50D, f8, 1/500, 400mm. View 483 and Faves 6 through 1 January 2012, thanks for stopping by!

Excellent shot, I love the nature/landscape aspect of the shot. I need to do more of these type of photographs as apposed to just portrait photos.
