Rich fall underbrush provides a colorful backdrop for a pronghorn buck protecting his territory, Casper, Wy. Canon 50D, f5.6, 1/1600 (a little overkill), ISO 400, focal length 400mm, handheld. For more background on the remarkable migration that pronghorn make annually, click here . Thanks to Jake Jacobson for asking if any antelope turned up!
Featured in Earth Keepers, November 2009, thanks so much!
Oh……this is so lovely…….I adore all that wonderful blur behind. Great color!! You always do such a wonderful job of framing your shots!!
Thanks so much, Elizabeth! p.s. Do you think there’s a way for the Home Page creator to somehow be mentioned on the HP? Or maybe a small link that says “about the making of the Home Page”?
Thanks so much, Arla! When I wasn’t posting a few shots today, I was running around the Red Desert looking for wild horses in a driving rain storm; found three bands!
Thanks so much for dropping by, Appel! Love your “She’s growing”… the evidence is mounting for me to get over my problems with Lightroom and get the latest upgrade!
Nicely composed action capture of a Pronghorn! The warm fall colors so nicely compliment the warm shade of the Pronghorn’s color! : )
Hi Sandy, thanks so much! p.s. if you spot anything that looks “off” about this shot, would you BMail me? I can think of a few things that look a little processed and am wondering if they hit other folks.
Beautiful shot, AM. I saw a doco on Yellowstone this month and it showed the migration of the Pronghorn but didn’t say where they went to. We’ll be driving through Casper so maybe we will see them along the way. :)
Hi Ann, you will certainly see pronghorn in the Casper area, heehee, check out this one, snoozing in a small pocket park in Casper!

Great ungulate! A beautiful autumn shot.
Thanks so much for dropping by, Jan… having a laugh with you about moose in the yard (after you’ve been on a long hike and seen them in the distance)!
