Bison babies have this wonderful cinnamon color when they are still young. Late May in Yellowstone is a perfect time to see them dotting the plains with their mothers and the rest of the herd close at hand. Don’t be fooled… bison are not docile animals and should not be approached! Canon 40D, f10, 1/400, ISO 400, RAW, focal length 350mm. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA. I love these little guys – that caramel coat goes so well with bright green grass of spring

  • The snow cover is so light this winter, I wonder if it will push the whole baby season earlier in YS. Are you guys having a light winter down there, Jay? AMR

We had some pretty good snow late Fall, and then not a whole lot of snow or even really cold temps. Friday was the first snow we’ve had in a while.

Very nice A.M. I would never think about approaching a Bison or a Buffalo. What’s the difference? Hate to show my ignorance but I really don’t know.
