About mid-March is when we start looking for the returning Mountain Bluebirds (Sialia currucoides) and what a welcome sight they are; for me, they mean it’s finally spring. This year they were right on target with the first ones seen just after St. Patrick’s Day. Canon 40D, Canon 100-400 IS lens, f 5.6, 1/500, focal length 400mm, RAW. Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA. Lovely colours, perfect lighting: great shot
Hi David, you are SO kind! I’m in awe of your Hummingbird Moth 4… I have spent a lot of time just watching them in our garden, and haven’t ever even dreamed it would be possible to get that shot you captured. Nicely done!

Be like I, hold your head up high,
Till you find a bluebird of happiness.
You will find greater peace of mind
Knowing there’s a bluebird of happiness.
And when he sings to you,
Though you’re deep in blue,
You will see a ray of light creep through,
And so remember this, life is no abyss,
Somewhere there’s a bluebird of happiness.
It’s been years since I’ve even thought about that song….until now! Thank you for this gorgeous image, and the memory AM.
Oh it’s lovely, Magee; any idea where I could find the melody?
