This is a fairly common hawk in the valley of Jackson Hole, but try getting close to one and you find they are a bit skittish. Canon 40D, Canon 100-400 IS lens, f 8, 1/640, focal length 400mm. I just cannot express the feeling I get from your fantastic capture of the Red Tail Hawk. it is awe inspiring to me.

  • Hi Flowers, I’m delighted and tickled that you are so moved by this hawk! I’m used to be a glider pilot so I get goose bumps when I watch big bigs fly… so glad to have company!

Congratulations on your very well-deserved feature!

Superb photograph! I just love this wonderful image! I have been stalking a particular Red-Tail for years, and I have yet to get a good sharp image of him in full flight. That has become my #1 photographic goal.

Your beautiful “bokeh” background is “simply to die for”! This is an absolutely fantastic piece of work!!!

  • Thanks so much, Gene; I have stopped for a lot of redtails, but never gotten a better one than this. Good luck in your quest; the process sure is fun! Thanks for the rave review!!
