Field of Lupine and the Tetons by A.M. Ruttle

Field of Lupine and the Tetons by

Jaw-dropping – YES, it really does look like this! The lupine in parts of Grand Teton National Park are quite extraordinary at just the right time of year. This little pond is ephemeral, and is the perfect mirror for sunrise over the Tetons. It’s worth the wait to see this lovely scene! Canon 40D, tripod, f 22, 1/2, RAW, focal length 28mm. Grand Teton National Park (near Moran, Wyoming, USA). Views 19,462 and 239 Faves as of 14 December 2014, thanks for stopping by!

Is a great image, well-thought-out and presented. I think shots are even better if you have to wait for them. I might add a touch of yellow in the highlights. picture is great just like it is, just trying to add some constructive dialogue.

  • Hi Dave, great suggestion; I’m really interested in thought along those lines. AMR

Dave, do you see a difference in the file I uploaded just a moment ago? When I was toggling the layer on and off, your suggestion brightened up the greens and yellows; nice effect I think as they were a tad muddy before; do you think I went too far?

No I think you nailed it. It also removed some of the over purple saturation and this guy and mountains. Almost any time that the sky is your major light source, you’ll need to add some yellow. This will happen a lot at sunrise.

  • Awesome coaching; thanks for walking me through that. Keep the excellent suggestions coming!

Perfectly Splendid. For the life of me I can not figure out where in the park this was taken from. Between Black Tail Ponds and Schwabachers Landing somewhere I am guessing. A most stunning photograph. Bravo!

  • Love the “splendid” coming from you, Albert; you’ve got fantastic shots of this area!
