The Grand Teton is truly as remarkable as it seems in images, and every shift in the weather or season shows yet another side of its many facets. I had driven by this curve of bleached grass many times, and finally called to get permission to drive onto the private property to take the shot. This beautiful sweep of land is protected by the Jackson Hole Land Trust. Canon 40D, 22, 1/13, focal length 60mm, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA. Photo is as is or did you use a filter? Lovely.

  • Thanks whalegeek; lovely poetic description of yours! May I quote you? No filter involved, minimal correction in CS3. Just wish I had been carrying a camera with a bigger sensor and more megapixels!

Grand Tetons…Yep, it’s definitely on my to go list! Thanks for this stunningly captivating photo!

  • When you go, Helm, drive from the town of Jackson toward Wilson to the west, and you will see this vista on your right (or to the north) just before you get to the bridge over the Snake River!

This is the one I was searching for. The wheat coloured grasses lead the eye to the majestic mountains in the distance, it is wonderfully composed. It is so beautiful in the warm sunlight!

  • Thanks so much, Sharon; sounds like you would have hunted down the owners to get permission to take the shot, too! It really drew me in, probably because of the way the grass glowed with the light.
