Thank you all!
Great grey owls hunt at the bottom of our hill from time to time, and I carry the camera in the hopes of catching them. This wild beauty was right above me when I shot this – it certainly made me feel like the next mouse on the menu! Canon 40D, 100-400 IS Lens, focal length 400mm, speed 1/400, f 6.3. Views 1549 through 30 July 2012, thanks for dropping by.

So, A. M. Ruttle, where’d you find this beauty? Am VERY impressed! My owl sightings have been fleeting other than for a few occasions so ’fess up to how you captured this fantastic image. Whalegeek aka G

  • Got lucky with a “rash” of great grey owls, but haven’t been so lucky with them lately. I guess it comes under the heading of “treasure them when you can”!

I think it’s all about the eyes. The feathers are just the frame. Great shot.

  • Thanks for the thoughtful comment, Phil; after seeing your portfolio, it’s a compliment to have to stop and look at this shot.
