Isleta Indian Reservation by

This is our last stop in the Albuquerque area. This photo is taken on a public road in the Isleta Indian Reservation. If time had allowed I would have enjoyed going further and buying some bread that they make in the horno outdoor ovens, pictured in this photo. The Isleta reservation is to the south of Albuquerque.

Here is a link to read about cooking the bread in the horno ovens -http://www.stylegourmet.com/articles/015.htm

A cool capture, Ann! An interesting place.

  • Thanks for the comment Judy. We used to live in Albuquerque and enjoyed the few days that we visited there on our trip. I was glad to spot one of the horno ovens that the Indians use to bake their breads in. The breads are excellent!!!

Ann when I was a kid,..I seen scene like this,…I just can`t get over the idea that people still live like this,…That are places out there where they have no running water or electric,…Just amazing,…

  • They do live a simpler life. It might be less stress free, but I would not want to live that way, it would be more labor intensive for one thing. I cannot imagine having to hand wash all of the laundry for one thing, and cooking on a wood burning stove, no computers or TV – yikes! I’m sure that is why they have the horno ovens outside : ). Thanks so much for the comment.
