Snowy Bells
An early snow came to Maroon Bells, CO this September 2009. The Maroon Bells is a mountain in the Elk Mountains that consists of two peaks, South Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak, separated by about a third of a mile. The mountain is on the border between Pitkin County and Gunnison County, Colorado, United States, about 12 miles southwest of Aspen. Both peaks are counted as fourteeners. Maroon Peak, at 14,156 feet, is the 27th highest peak in Colorado; North Maroon Peak, at 14,014 feet, is the 50th highest. The view of the Maroon Bells to the southwest from the Maroon Creek valley is one of the most famous scenes in Colorado, and is reputed to be the “most-photographed spot in Colorado” and one of Colorado’s premier scenic overlooks.

This place, which is said to be the most photographed area of Colorado, is just outside Aspen. It’s called Maroon Bells. I was going to RMNP but when I saw a photo I just had to go and get one of my own. It’s about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Estes Park. My first day there it snowed a few inches (quite a shock to the SoCal gal) But on my second day….perfection! Keep an eye out JimGuy My second day captures will be coming very soon.

Thanks Steve this was taken on Oct 1, ‘09. There were other photographers there that morning I just kept their prints out of the shot. When it started snowing again I left. The next morning was even more beautiful. Stay tuned for those captures coming soon. LOL
