Wild flowers at Castle Rising by

Watercolour 46×32cm Artists watercolour on Arches 140lb cold press paper.

I saw this scene in a Norfolk village where I was attending an art course a few years ago. With the ox eye daisies and cow parsley growing along the edges of the path between the old barns, it seemed a great image to include in my book called Flowers in the Landscape. So I painted it with this in mind.
I over emphasised the daisies in the foreground to make them stand out and perhaps increase the sense of distance in the painting.

Winner of the Flowers in the Landscape challenge in the Landscape Paintings Group May 2011

I’m a watercolour artist and art tutor from Nottingham, UK. I love painting flowers particularly and sharing techniques with others as I really rate this wonderful medium. I have written two watercolour tips and techniques books which demonstrate the way I like to use watercolour.
