Watercolour 33×27cm on Saunders Waterford 140not using W and N Artists colours.
I came across this scene on holiday in France and was so glad I had my camera. I have pondered long and hard as to whether to use this image but I hope the little boy’s Mum, who came on to the scene a moment later, will not mind me painting a portrait of her son and showing it to you. He will be quite the young man now and will look very different anyway, and of course it’s extremely unlikely that they would ever see it! The boy’s hands seem to be itching to touch the cat. He’s saying…do I dare stroke him?

I’m a watercolour artist and art tutor from Nottingham, UK. I love painting flowers particularly and sharing techniques with others as I really rate this wonderful medium. I have written two watercolour tips and techniques books which demonstrate the way I like to use watercolour.
