These antlers and hat hang in the garage/workshop of Randy Rieman, bringing character to the room in which he spends hours making reatas. I do believe the hat has seen some wear…
Beautiful job with the light, Ann. Connecting these two icons of the West is a neat idea.
Thanks, Ted. Yes, it just screamed to be photographed (can you hear it?), as did the old snowshoes and coyote hide, plus the longhorn horns and book on the table. : ) Maybe you’ll see some of those someday too…can’t throw EVERYTHING at you at once! ; )
Wonderful composition Ann. The combination of rounded and angular lines really complement each other. Great contrast in form and shading. You have told your story well.
Thanks so much for the insightful comment, Bryan. I too love the contrast of shapes, and greatly increased the contrast on this shot, as well as bumping down the saturation a touch. This is one of my new favorite editing techniques. : )
This would be wonderful in the All Kinds of Hats Challenge ~ Happy Haven-Photography! Marie ~ Host
Wow, Marie, you’re right. Quite fitting for that challenge, as Lancaster County sports more Amish hats than I can count! : ) LOL Thanks for tracking me down (not only that, but this group looks like exactly my kind of group, and I hadn’t discovered it yet!)! : )

LOL – …and I just realized I was thinking you were commenting on a different hat photo of mine. Hmm, this one would be perfect too. Sheesh, too (two?!) many options! : )

nice ann love the hat..
Thanks, Donovan. I thought it was pretty cool too. It gets me to imagining what that hat has seen and been through!

Love the hat rack…nice looking elk
I have one that’s similar…and it does indeed make a nice hat rack (or clothes drying rack, or…etc!)! : ) Thanks for the comment, Ryan.
