I created this especially for the Make Up Your Mind Group, as I joined awhile ago and liked the challenge of making art with a unusual medium.
Now I know that my hoarding habits can sometimes pay off.
I fished out a large bagful of old make up products and had some fun last night.
All those old eye shadows, nail polishes, eye pencils, foundations etc… played their part in this creation.
I was very surprised just how well they blended with my fingers. I must try using pastels sometime in the future, as I am hooked aftyer this experiment.
Thanks to my daughter Lucy too, who let me use her bright sparkly eye shadows and Kate who left behind some odds and ends of make up which helped in the making of this.
Paper: Gainsborough Pastel/Felt textured paper, colour mid grey.
Size: 310mm x 225mm
White areas were painted with Matisse Titanium White paint
Faces are always interesting aren’t they? I had a picture of a scarab and wanted to incorporate it.
This is an ancient symbol for good luck. It can be worn near the heart or displayed in many other ways to continue it’s 4,000-plus year history of bringing good luck.
Nail polishes were used to colour it.
girl, face, woman, female, eyes, lady, ears, nose, mouth, makeup, scarab

oh she is lovely…she looks a little like you!! yes use your cosmetics you dont need them!!!
Thanks Shylie :) I have an idea that when all of us create a face we put a little of ourselves into it, unwittingly. My partner made the same comment.
I made the mistake of putting some dabs of white paint down the centre of the nose before I applied the foundation…thinking it would make it lighter. I didn’t realise that the foundation wouldn’t cover it up. Oh well it was an experiment and fun, not a masterpiece. ~ Anni x

Much better to put the products on this than on you! Love the image:-))
Hi Enivea, Yes it is amazing how much make up was squirreled away. The nail polishes were fun as there was amazing colours like purple, green and gold!
Fun using fingers to blend the foundation. I can understand people using pastel now.
Thanks for looking ;) ~ Anni x

Hello Kathi, I am a member of the Make Up Your Mind Group on here, which means 80% of the picture has to be made with make up. Love a challenge :) My partner said it looks like me, I didn’t set out to do so, it just evolved. Good use of old make up and some fun. Thanks Kathi ~ Anni x
