As we are stuck in the depths of winter down here in New Zealand, I thought it might be good to choose something to paint that’s funny, to lift the spirit. So I have come up with a painting called ‘Playing Footsie’.
Have you ever played it? It is an intimate game, basically a way of flirting silently without other people noticing (like an inside joke, but better). Be warned, it is best played with someone you really like and likes you back. Be gentle and don’t kick the other person by accident or it could have the reverse effect
I thought it was time to try out some watercolour pencils I had bought last month. They were secondhand (unused) bought from a auction site. They are Faber Castell Albrecht Durer, a tin of 12. I used Bockingford watercolour paper for this painting.
Hey, thanks Karin. I was playing around with watercolour today, as I bought some recently and wanted to have a go. Makes a change from acrylics. Had no models so had to relie on my imagination (not that reliable) :)) ~ Anni
Oh, it is real fun relying on the imagination! And the result shows that you don’t really need a model for such details, either – you do have them inside. Like the idea and the slight humor…
Hi Gili, I relied on my imagination once and gave a woman 6 fingers in one of my paintings. I didn’t realise it for ages :) Yes, where would we be without some imagination, life would be rather dull.
;-) I do all kinds of strange things in my drawings, twisting proportions and letting show what may seem ugly to people, but is part of being human. Well, no model complained so far, besides one lover who thought she was the inspiration for a drawing… But I do consider painting from photos, did excercise it a bit with pastels.
