Behind the Curtain

Acrylic painting on stretched boxed canvas
Size 10” x 10”

In memory of a cat I once had called ‘Milo’. He was a lovely big, polar bear of a cat who used to follow me every where. This was his ultimate downfall, he crossed a very busy road…he was just over a year old.

OH I just hate when they do that…precious.they steal a bite out of of our heart and take it with them!

  • Anni Morris replied

Hi Dalzenia , Yes it is always a worry with pets isn’t it? Some seem to have a better road sense than others though.

I sooo love ginger cats! Have one at home myself, named Lucky. I love this painting Anni, great colours and the expression on the cat’s face, like he’s just been caught out at something… Sad to hear about his demise, we had exactly the same thing happen to a much loved ginger cat at about the same age.

  • Anni Morris replied

Hi Lyn, I suppose it is a risk we just live with…they are such adorable companions. Thanks for viewing and your comments ~ Hugs Anni :)

  • Anni Morris replied

Hi madvlad, yes they can be very single minded. When I have offended my present cat..(not shown him enough attention, or fed him enough) he turns and sits with his back to me! ~ Anni :)

What a great way to handle this portrait of Milo. Those quilted sides really make his likeness stand out. Too bad about his accident. But you’ve done a fine job of remembering him. Cheers! TPS

How terribly sad. We have had six cats so far, including our current two. They feature in my work occasionally. Of the six cats, Snarfe and Tom disappeared (years apart). I like to think they were adopted by some poor old lonely person, but …. who knows.

  • Anni Morris replied

Yes, always sad to lose a pet. I suppose when they don’t return you still have hope. Let’s hope yours were adopted by some kind and lonely soul. I found poor Milo in the gutter a day latter. He was given a decent burial and still lives on in our memories ~ Anni :)

i love cats so much . this is wonderful image. you have done very well in such a small canvas Anni

  • Anni Morris replied

Hello Hidemi, Yes it is a challenge with a small canvas…I am about to paint 6 small canvases for an exhibition just before Christmas. The upside is they are easier to package ;) ~ Anni

  • Hidemi Tada

    Hidemi Tada

its a good idea Anni, and i m also thinking same. paint in small canvas is easy to pack and easy to sell. i am now painting on 35×27cm and 7×9 inch. i can’t paint in begi canvas any more, because i cant buy them . here too expensive and also i know nobody want to buy such a big painting here. so i am doing on small size too.
