The Swimmer

The Swimmer

Acrylic on stretched canvas 10 inch x 10 inch

Original SOLD

I was painting this yesterday when there was snow falling outside. Guess I wanted to think about summer and warmth. This has a very British seaside feel to it. I remember trips to the seaside when I was a child. Metal painted buckets with jolly seaside scenes on them, metal spades with wooden dowel handles…packets of paper flags to pop into those sandcastles. Why did the egg sandwiches always get sand in them?
Anyway this lady here seems to have quite a bit of her own buoyancy.

SNOW???? egads…we are already having 98 degree /1o2 weather here! and not a drop of rain in sight! ; ^O

  • Anni Morris replied

Dalzenia, we are fast approaching our shortest day here in New Zealand. I miss not having so much daylight and yes…love warmth. It did look pretty yesterday morning I must admit…but I think the panel beaters did well around here, as there was ice under the snow. Thank you ~ Anni xoxo

I can not phathum…as much as i dislike the INTENSE heat…omg…and what are panel beaters?:))) ( sounds dreadfull)

  • Anni Morris replied

Tee…hee…panelbeaters deal with getting out the dents in the bodywork of vehicles. They have a lot of business during the winter when snow and ice make driving conditions difficult ;) ~ Anni

  • Les Smutz

    Les Smutz

Your work always brings a smile…I recall those salt-rusted buckets and shovels, too. It’s a shame that all we can get these days is plastic. I think the metal ones made more durable castles somehow.

  • Anni Morris replied

Hi Les, I totally agree…you could compress the sand more in them. I used to smack it with the back of my spade :) Guess they lasted several lifetimes of the cheap plastic varieties too. Thank you for viewing this and your comment. much appreciated ~ Anni :)
