I think this is a great painting, Anni. I like the atmosphere of innocence in it. The composition is very strong, it is vivid, alive and very telling.

interesting style…very engaging, and innocent…the forms are simple, but then the lighting/values/shading is very sophisticated.

  • Anni Morris replied

Thanks kellimaier…every picture tells its own story. I really enjoyed this one…it was a challenge trying to paint hands knitting…without a model…lots of rough sketching beforehand. Faces and expressions I love…and colour…can’t do without it. Cheers ~ Anni

i dont know, i think she has a look about her, a bit of deviousness…i dont see this as an innocent painting…its as though all is not as it seems here…

or maybe im just messed up in the head! lmao

Hey Butterflies, Yes I agree with what you say. Look at Paula Rego’s work…she was my inspiration and her child characters are not what they seem. There is more going on than meets the eye. I suppose we often weave symbolism throughout our work, sometimes we do it without even knowing. Cheers ~ Anni :)
