Anni has drawn, painted and made things all of her life in one way or another… always seeing images within things. Detail, colour, texture, shapes, light and shadow…all things visual have always been very important to her. As a child she enjoyed creating something out of nothing…a dolls house from cardboard shoe boxes, a puppet from odds and ends, even wooden stilts from an old broken piano.
Born near London she loved the colour and variety of a thriving city. After much travel she now lives in the far south of New Zealand, Dunedin has firmly become my home.
Anni has never wished art to be a restrictive, technical exercise but an explorative process, where you can feel the freedom to discover things ‘en route’ and use her vivid imagination; she believes this way, it retains its sense of fun and playfulness.
Anni’s mother, a commercial artist, was her first teacher. Studying Design at Otago University and gaining a degree in Education, Anni majored in Art at the Dunedin College of Education. She is a Primary trained teacher. Over the last few years she has started exhibiting. Her art has been collected in New Zealand and abroad
