Done in watercolor—- my interpretation of
“The Scream” By Edvard Munch
This is Expressionist art
Definition:
Expressionism is a term used to describe a movement of the early 20th century (c.1905-20) that was most prominent in Germany and Austria. The aims of an Expressionist were to express emotions through the use of vivid colors and strong, distorted lines, rather than capturing a likeness or reality. Their work was characterized by intense, violent, and non-naturalistic colors, painted in a textural manner.
While reference is made to colors having symbolic value, again it seems to me that this symbolism was largely determined by individual artists, and not governed by a rigid set of pre-existing rules.

Proverbs14:22 to the end

Things I love: God, His Son Jesus Christ, My husband, my children,my dog, the word of God and his people. I enjoy writing about the Bible as well as reading it, painting, cooking and enjoying life. I am thankful God has smiled on me and has been gracious to me.
God sent his son so I could be saved, and forgiven. I was not worthy yet Jesus Christ died for my sins. He enabled me to receive power from on high. I am and will be eternally grateful.

I think it’s how the liberals feel now that there’s a “Tea Party”.

  • You are probably right about that. But I think most of them and many people are having the wool pulled over their eyes by the Elite socialists(from both of the parties) and don’t realize the tea party people are out for the good of the country and all people.

I can so relate on so many levels. I think millions of Americans are feeling this way. Brillant work.

  • LOL but seriously it is not funny. It is so ironic because when I was young it was taboo to even be associated with treasonous communists or socialists.
I hope the millions of Americans start seeing this tragic fact and vote. Thanks so much.♥

I have those silent screams from time to time, all part of being a woman I think!!!

  • I do understand but I think this scream had to do with the nation turning away from God.

Well, that mainly because as women I think we are doing most of the silent and loudest screaming about all that, it has me very upset!!

This one is terrific; I was about to say that it reminds me of Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’, when I see that you wrote about it! I believe he was one who painted from his dreams. This painting is Loaded with emotion. It was Fritz Perls who ‘gave us permission’ to honor our emotions, whereas many of us were raised to keep our mouths shut: ie….‘children should be seen and not heard’, etc. Good work, Anne

  • Three cheers to Franz Perls for getting permission to honor our emotions. We must speak out in every avenue we can while it is still called today. We must hold to truth and goodness. I myself was also raised to shut up. But in all we must be discreet and wise using wisdom in all we do. I learned that lesson recently. Thanks so much,JacqueLynn.
