Raleigh Repose
I stumbled across this tumbledown shed whilst out birdwatching- a relic from the past, slowly sliding into decay on a mellow afternoon. Some quick sketches and colour notes ensured I’d paint it someday.

Anne Evans
Thanks Robert – we found orioles and figbirds in the trees above!
Natasha Harsh
Just lovely. Is this a pastel?
GEORGE SANDERSON
Great picture, Anne !!!
I find it harder to paint ruins than complete buildings, I think it is because in ruins things are not always wher they should be !
Anne Evans
Natasha , it’s a watercolour – although I used some “just out of the tube” dots for flower or seed heads.
Anne Evans
Thanks George,
That’s so true – this is version 2 because the first one looked too upright!
Colin Cartwright
A fine painting – good shadow and depth. I like the limited palette of yellow and green.
Anne Evans
Thanks Colin,
I’m more pleased with the top half – less tinkering.
Carolyn Andrew...
I like this very much Anne, and it makes me think..SPRING IS COMING…how soft and lovely…I I could walk right into this painting…wonderful feeling!
Anne Evans

These old buildings around here are vanishing – we are losing a bygone era. I wonder if people will feel nostalgic about skyscrapers in the future?
