Children who are being abused, often retreat into an imaginary kingdom for safety. This is my imaginary kingdom for children everywhere, where they are safe from harm.

This image was prompted by F.A.Moore who introduced me to the magical works of Edward Hicks. His painting The Peaceable Kingdom was the inspiration for this work. Thank you so much Frannie.

The Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston

I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I’ll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

    Amazing work dear Anna,
It looks like an old masters painting.
It is like in the Biblical prophecy “… and the wolf shall dwell with the lamb”
Don’t have the full text in English right now, that’s what I remember. There is also:
“… and they shall beat their swords into plough-shares and their spears into pruning-hooks”

  • Hi my dear friend, thank you. It does have a biblical feel to it, but as I was creating it it became, more and more, a place of safety for children who have been abused. They often take themselves away in their mind, to an imaginary place where they are safe.

Just for children? Can big kids apply, because that would be a blissful and safe place to be. Very beautiful work, this is stunning. I wanna be there!

  • Hi Akkra – this is a place where anyone can go to find safety, and be free from harm. Thanks so much.
