Continuing the story…..

From out of your retreat, you come into the sunlight, as if being pulled up from some low, dark point on a wheel. It is time for a change. You head back out into the world, expecting nothing. But, strangely, good things seem to happen to you as the hours go by.

Wandering by a water wheel a woman offers you a drink in a golden chalice, and then urges you to keep the cup, just because she likes you. As you wander by a windmill, you stop to watch a young woman holding a beautiful sword. When you express your admiration of the weapon, the young woman presses it into your hand, insisting that you take it.

And finally, when you he come upon a rich merchant sitting in a wagon, the man hands you a bag of money. “I like giving away money,” explains the Merchant, “and I decided, just randomly, that the tenth person who walked past me today would get this money. You’re the tenth.” You hardly thought you could still be surprised, but you are. It is as if everything good that you ever did in his life is being paid back to you, three-fold. All luck this day is yours.

The Wheel of Fortune is all about big things, luck, change, and fortune. Almost always good fortune. Almost every definition of this card indicates abundance, happiness, elevation, or luck; a change that just happens, and brings with it great joy.

As much as the Tarot is about what you can do to change their life or self, there are cards that admit that sometimes you just get lucky. This card can mean movement, change and evolution, but its primary meaning always seems to say that such changes will seem to come out of the blue, a stroke of good, unexpected fortune. Call it karmic payback for all the good things you have done in life – destiny or just luck – but whatever lotteries are out there, large or small, you have just won one.

Adapted from

This was created in Photoshop CS4. The background consist of 3 different layers, blended together, on top of which the windmill, the zodiac wheel and the model were added. The sword and the chalice were finally added to complete the image. Many of the layers were repeated using different blending modes to add depth to the image.
I chose green for the predominant colour as symbolically it represents nature, good luck, youth, vigor and wealth. I added the zodiac wheel to symbolise the Wheel Of Fortune, because the tarot and the Zodiac are very much intertwined.

The music that I was singing to myself all the time I was creating this image was Somewhere Over The Rainbow – here sung by the fabulous Eva Cassidy

“Somewhere over the rainbow- way
up high
in the land
that I heard of once
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow- skies
are blue
and the dreams
that you dare to dream
really do come true

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
and wake up
where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
away above the chimney tops
that’s where you’ll find me

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
and wake up
where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
away above the chimney tops
that’s where you’ll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
skies are blue
and the dreams…that you dare to dream
really do come true
If happy little bluebirds fly
above the rainbow, why
Oh, why can’t I?"
