pieta for dead dreams 2 by annamora

Currently unavailable for purchase

a small work on paper – A4 size
mainly acrylic with ink …

a second ‘take’ ….
..same story :
… I have been to less happy ‘places’ in my mind lately .. and the ‘idea of a pieta’ came again …… this is a small personal work about looking inwards trying to see the bigger picture … my mind always circles in the realms of some sort of baroque pathos and I stopped stopping myself expressing it – I accept that that’s where my roots are … I find the traditional Pieta a most wonderful visual expression of extreme grief and letting go … and so as I meditate on the Biblical story … I try to find my own ways of letting go of things very dear to me no matter how much it hurts, no matter how much embarrassing and inconvenient …. it’s of course impossible to see it in the very moment but the story does not end here ….. in our life we constantly go through stages of letting go of all kinds of ambitions, expectations, dreams, wishes, ways of thinking …. we let go of them sometimes so painfully – almost as if they are our own flesh and blood ….. and since letting go is the only way left – now and then there is the “work” of actual being in that ‘place’ of grief ………….

grief, letting go, loss, pieta, psychological, state of mind, death

I believe arts making creates connection between our inner and outer worlds.
I love the depth, the lightness, the playfulness, the seriousness and the inexpressibly sincere nature of relationships which tend to ‘just happen’ while sharing interests, passions and frustrations about art :)

Anna both these pieces ad your writing in the description speak to me so poignantly and the tit;e just gives me shivers. You are incredibly talented and deeply wise and insightful. I am at a loss for other words……“stages of letting go of all kinds of ambitions, expectations, dreams, wishes, ways of thinking …. we let go of them sometimes so painfully – almost as if they are our own flesh and blood” both the image above and these words speak of feelings i have not been able to put words to and… I understand my own pain and loss more so for having viewed your painting …I hope we both come out of this not so nice place soon though my friend V :)xxxoo

  • Valentina …. what you wrote is so precious to me …. you see it took me a lot of “mental labour” (lol) to figure out what is it … he he … I am better now ..yes …thank you :)
