..inspired by the book I read right now called ‘Women who run with the wolves’ by Clarissa Pinkola Estes ….
..this is the story called ‘Vasalisa’ in this book … I remember this story from a collection of Russian Fairy tales I had when I was a little girl ..and I remember the fascination this story used to arouse …
…. from the analysis of this story:
So, off goes Vasalisa into the dark forest with her scull on a stick. she wandered about to get to the Yaga, now she returns home more sure, more certain, hips aimed straight ahead. This is the ascent from the initiation of deep intuition. …. … She has negotiated through the dark listening to her inner voice, and has been able to stand the face of the Hag, which is a side of her own nature, but also the powerful Wild Woman nature. ….. She goes forward in life, feet placed surely, one after the other, womanly. ….. Scull-light sees what it sees; it is an eternal light, and right out front, shining ahead of a woman, like a presence which goes a little bit before her and reports back to her what it has found ahead. It is her perpetual reconnaisance.

you have a remarkable ability to create the story in one frame of your deep and loving works.. so full of our nature… I like how you have made darkness show it’s purple hue… gorgeous!
Linaji … I always tried to cover it up that I am actually a story teller / illustrator at heart … as someone sometime must have given me the idea of illustrating/story telling not being ‘grand’ enough .. lol … and you know what – purple is my favourite colour and yes : = mystery /darknes / purple …. so glad you’ve mentioned it … your understanding is very encouraging for me :)
