Fosso Reale in Livorno (Italy)
Livorno is a port city on the Ligurian Sea on the western edge of Tuscany, Italy.
The Fosso Reale of Livorno is a ditch (not to be confused with channel) that originally followed the perimeter of the fortified city and, later, with the demolition of the ramparts, has definitely lost its defensive function.
The system of ditches and canals of Livorno, albeit subject to numerous changes over the centuries, has maintained much of its charm, so much so that in the past it has been called for the inclusion in the list of World Heritage.
