Original Ink Drawing by Anita Inverarity
Exploring The Maiden, The Mother and The Crone in my next artworks.
I was intrigued by the often absurd and sometimes derogatory portrayal of elderly woman in our old fables, rhymes and verses and her association with witchery and supernatural acts. So this one is dedicated to “the old ways and wisdoms we may have lost” through such persecutions. I chose one of those old “memory” rhymes “The Old Lady Who Swallowed The Fly” which is quite mischeivous and makes me smile none the less :) Completed on International Womans Day, 8th March 2012.
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly

Original on hold for an expo. Enquires welcome
