Original Art in Mixed Media by Anita Inverarity

Watercolour, Coloured Pencils & Ink on Watercolour Paper. I did this way back at college for my Children’s Illustration course.

Inspired by the poem by Oliver Herford….
The Elf and the Dormouse
Under a toadstool crept a wee Elf,
Out of the rain to shelter himself.
Under the toadstool, sound asleep,
Sat a big Dormouse all in a heap.
Trembled the wee Elf, frightened and yet
Fearing to fly away lest he get wet.
To the next shelter—maybe a mile!
Sudden the wee Elf smiled a wee smile.
Tugged till the toadstool toppled in two.
Holding it over him, gaily he flew.
Soon he was safe home, dry as could be.
Soon woke the Dormouse—"Good gracious me!
“Where is my toadstool?” loud he lamented.
—And that’s how umbrellas first were invented

wonderful work Anita. Technique is wonderful. Shading is great.
I wondered whether you’ve ever considered adding colour to any of your black line works using photoshop? It would be intriguing to see one coloured.
good luck with your latest work… I hope your inspired by something wonderful. I love that feeling of inspiration… it’s just so powerful isn’t it.
    Pip :) xo

  • Thank you so much dear Pip :))))) xxxx
It is something I’ve considered yes, but its hard for me to go back to something and “play” once I get a sense of completion, plus I’m really not good at getting the colours I want in photoshop.
But I’m def not going to say never on that (I think it can enhance Tee designs def and I always wanted to try it with Mad Hatters Tea Party)
