A work done for the Victorian Industrial Group- Masquerade Challenge
(coming soon). I worked very differently on this- working out and then completing
the inkings in small sections- so it kind of evolved from the bottom up and nothing was worked out in advance. It was fun because I had no idea how it would end up really.
Influences Victorian Dress, Lace, Jet, Ribbons, Bast and the Victorian obsesson with all things Egyptian, Pea-hens, Hearts and Mournful Valentines, Fans and the mystery of the Masquerade.

    This is Absolutely fabulous, Anita. You always flor me with the amunt of detail in your pieces. I always had a thing for a simple black ribbon on the neck. I like the way the backgroung gives the feeling of lace. Adore the kitty back and peacocks. Fav!

    As well as loving this picture, I enjoyed reading your commentary. I always find it fascinating to know what influences artists. Like yourself, I rarely make a secret of my influences. A hundred artists could each be influenced by the same thing, but it is their individual treatment of the source that is exciting. This is wonderful art my friend. Some people deny being influenced by anything or anyone, but I believe we are all here to inspire each other, so long as we stop well short of plagiarism, which of course you definitely do :)

    I did almost 500 pen and inks before turning to colour and rarely do any these days, but seeing work like yours reminds me what fun it can be, so I may be doing more ink drawings this year.

    Thank you so much. I dont know much about the different methods, apart from screen printing which I studied at college many moons ago- its not the first time someone has mentioned this to me and I find myself drawn to artists using lino print too.
