i was trying to think of it at the time then it came to me do you remember the album piper standing at the gates of dawn it was there first album well in some ways the cover for that reminds me of your work almost a precurser not so much in style but more in contexct if that makes sense im also a fan of floyed forgrt clapton david gilmore and jeff beck saw jeff beck in concert on the tv the other day he was at ronnie scots in london he just mezmorises me see emily play was there big hit and the nail in the coffin for sid as at that time he did the writting and the presure was on him to come up with another hit an of course that wasnt his thing he wanted to be on the fringe doing his abstract thing oh yes halsian days the middle earth light shows and nievity
AnitaInverarity replied
Piper at the Gates of Dawn is one of my all time favourite albums. It was a massive influence on me in my teen years (although I think it came out in 67- the year I was born) That naive whimisical psychedelia had a draw for me both british stuff and american like Jefferson Airplane and the Doors- Maybe it does rub off on my art a bit, never really noticed before.
Syd’s story is so tragic, and I love his solo stuff too. Dont think there will ever be another time like that, reality did slap it all in the face pretty hard.
Not too familiar with Jeff Becks stuff but I saw him on telly too, it must have been the same gig, I turned on half way through and was hooked after that- great stuff.
Love Gilmour , his newest one “On an Island” is good too.
SigneNordin
Really beautiful drawing! I love her hair, and all the animals!
AnitaInverarity replied
Thank you so much my friend :) :) xxxxxxx

AnitaInverarity replied
Thank you Rowi :) :) So glad you like it x
dnlddean
well an giving it away i was bout 15/16 when it came out an i remember the effect hendrix had on me when i first heard hey jo so i went through the lot zappa yes floyd bluse rock jazz soul funk if you ever get the chance listen to jeff becks first album called truth an you will see what i mean long befor clapton an cream came out so my music is all of that with todays sounds i also take news clips and bits from films an add that to my tracks if you look at my larger pieces and imagine music in the same way thats my music that i make
AnitaInverarity replied
Grrrrrreat influences. I will def get a hold of Truth (I love being introduced to new music- well old music really-any music). Now you have me tinking about Cream and Israeli Gears, that album has got some wild imagery that would inspire a drawing I would think. Most of this stuff I have on Vinyl, so its a real pest having to set up my turntable (its stored under the bed- but I would never get rid of it).
Must have a proper listen to your stuff sometime, I picked up the vibe on what I heard- I suppose a lot of funky ambient stuff came out of Floyd influences too.
AnitaInverarity replied
Soz btw- I could rabbit on about music that I like all day !
LindaMcCarthy
I remember The Wall. Quite depressing, as I recall, but I loved the time-lapsed photography of the flowers. This wonderful, Anita, and just superb.
AnitaInverarity replied
Thank you Linda- The Wall was a dark album- I still love it though and the film was very creative- the wonderful animations were created by Gerald Scarf.
See Emily Play is very uplifting and poppy compared to that :) :) :) xxxxx

BLYTHART
I was 17 when this song was released by Pink Floyd and you were … well, you weren’t born :) Either that or you’d just been born :) I can remember it like it was yesterday. This drawing is wonderful and it occurred to me that I rarely comment on your pictures because I tend to think that they are all so wonderful you don’t need any encouragement. Maybe even smashing artists like yourself need some sort of encouragement to keep going though.
AnitaInverarity replied
It was the year I was born- I LOVE early Floyd and Syd Barratt.
Thank you so much, I never say no to a bit of encouragement, most grateful xxxxx
Al Neaimi
Wonderful work , have you ever thought about creating coloring books?
AnitaInverarity replied
Thank you Al- I do get asked that a lot- I wouldnt know how to go about it tho :))))) xxxxxx
Al Neaimi
Anita since you are in the UK i would get hold of a copy of the book
WRITERS & ARTISTS year book for 2009 , it is completely revised and updated every year , in the book you will find all the places or people you need to show them your work and tell them about your ideas for the book , there are people only deal with children books .. check out the site
www.writersandartists.co.uk
you can also get the book in amazon.com
another thing you could try on here is to write a journal and just ask if any one can give you more info , maybe someone even know a good publisher in the UK or else where.
wishing you all the best Anita.
AnitaInverarity replied
Thank you so much Al- that is wonderful info- I will definately follow up. my biggest prob is that I hold down a v.busy job thats not got anything to do with art- so my “hobby” just takes little steps each year- I wish I could focus on it more. Thank you so much :)))))))) xx
AnitaInverarity replied
I have saved this for future ref x

Well – I love, love, love Early Floyd. Relics is top of my all time favourite albums – no seret at all about that (Surrealistic Pillow is No 2).
This song has enchanted me since I first heard it back when… well in the late 60’s.
The illustration here I like very much – not sure who it reminds me of – I love Patrick Woodroffe and Alan Aldridge alike. For me the 2 greatest illustrators (certainly in my lifetime) This piece seems to have bits of both of them… lovely!
Nice work, worthy feature… well done!
AnitaInverarity replied
Zooreka I must have missed this comment, so glad I found it, how lovely and special- Thank you soooooo much Those are 2 of my all time favourite albums also !! I think See Emily Play and Juliet Dream are 2 of my absolute favourite songs and Embryonic Journey has got to be my fav all time instrumental (although I love Grace Slicks voice).

Whan I saw tours I wen´t and looked to see if I had upped mine here – I had not. So thanks so much for the reminder. I did a number of Early Floyd pieces…. Just never quite sure where they all are…. Syd would have been proud of that one ;)
AnitaInverarity replied
Fantastic- I love your take on it- so ethereal and psychedelic like the song- wonderful and I hope you find the others :)))))))))) xxx

Anita, that’s ace!
Looks like Crystal Tipps (minus Alastair) meeting Kiki and Zsa-Zsa (without Hector).. references that will baffle unless you watched the same childhood TV as I did!
It also resembles huge B+W posters that were sold for colouring in.. don’t think I ever finished one!
AnitaInverarity replied
Yayyyyyyyyyy I LOVED Hectors House and Crystal Tipps and Alistair and Bagpuss and Mr Ben, Paddington Bear, THE HERBS- Oh Myyyyyy Thanks for reminding me :)))))))) and for your lovely comment lol xx

Late to the party again – a million and one well deserved comments later – here comes mine :o)
A very 70’s looking character she is too :o) Her animal friends all have an enigmatic smile – especially ‘frogger’, I lived Cheshire Cat’s cousin in here too,
I miss Brian but one cant have everything – maybe there’s a place for him in your next work :o). Devil is in the detail – too many animals to list and all of them are associated to you as Disney characters are to Disney. Your characters / animals have a charm, a magnetic charm to force one to look more at the details. Details like the hearts in her 70’s shirt. Love her expression.
Pen has run out :o) Gotta go. Night, night :o) xx
AnitaInverarity replied
Thank you dear friend, I appreciate your lovely comment. I will make sure Brian returns specially for you lol :))))))) Nighty Night x
