I our drawings are our “babies” then you are making me feel broody :) I haven’t doine any pen and ink drawings for ages … I really must! Forgiveme if I have already asked you this, but what pens do you use? I use Rotring Isograph, Rapidograph and dip-in mapping pens, etc.

  • AnitaInverarity replied

Hi Dave- I use either Edding or Steadling fine tip pens (0.1- 0.7 mainly).
Love to see some more inkings from you xx

  • BLYTHART

    BLYTHART

... sorry … should read … “if our drawings …” I must slow down long enough to edit :)

  • BLYTHART

    BLYTHART

Those pens you mention … are they fade-resistant? I’ve never used such pens as I imagine they’d be like felt-tips and fade with time … or am I confusing them with something else?

  • AnitaInverarity replied

They are fade resistent- sorry I think the term is drafting pens not fine liners- you get them in Edding too (but I fine Staedler gives a truer black). I did have a set of Rotring refillables but got really fed up with clogging and soaking them, not v.patient in that respect, so these are a good alternative. xx

  • BLYTHART

Rotring pens can be messy and very time-consuming, removing the tiny wire nib and cleaning the pens. My eyesight is getting worse and I can hardly see the nib at times.

  • AnitaInverarity replied

Yes- I’m afraid I didnt have the patience for it. I sometimes like the feel of a good old fashioned scratch pen and dipping ink. I havent used that for a while (Swan Splash was done like that- hence its more “sketchy”). Drafting pens are very convenient, its just a shame they run out after a few works. xx
