I have a friend who has dedicated her right arm to Alice in Wonderland tattoos. I’ve always loved the psychedelic notions of it. Nicely done.
AnitaInverarity replied
There’s just something about Alice, the psychedelia and childhood dreamscapes it evokes- Its a repeat subject of mine. I would love to see your friends tats (sounds awesome) Maybe you could persuade her to pose.
Cain Doherty
That’s exactly it – she took the theme and twisted it on its head – adorning herself with a really dark and twisted Cheshire Cat, Queen of Hearts and Alice herself. I haven’t seen her in a while now (I actually partnered her in my débutante ball) but I think she has a facebook and/or myspace page with some photos of them. I don’t have accounts on either of those sites so cannot access them.
AnitaInverarity replied
Tiz shame- but I love the idea of wonderland tatsxx

Now Anita it is my turn to say HOW WONDERFUL this work is. Alice is my favourite of all favourites as a story. I read and read and re-read this wonderful tale as I was growing up. In fact I still have my original book (it is well over 50 years old!!!) – I love it so much.

Pip Gerard
your work is truly incredible. I know the time that goes into this kind of work you’re amazing! You must have pen in hand nearly 24/7. Maybe you should think about getting a pen surgically attacehed. :)
AnitaInverarity replied
Hee Hee- I only wish that was the case, I would like nothing more Pip, but everyday life usually gets in the way of drawing- This one did take a very long time tho (on and off over a few weeks- which is how I tend to do things).
Appreciate your lovely comment very much xxxx

gottheshot
I see that I am not the first to comment on this wonderful art and that is NOT SURPRISING :o) A well known classic and the thing is that of course the viewer has a checklist of what ‘should be seen’ the picture. 1. ALICE :o) 2.Mad Hatter 3. Dormouse 4 Cheshire Cat with super smile 5 White Rabbit and watch and then the details : Playing card in the sleeve of rabbit, the zzzzzzzz across the page from Dormouse :o). Finally love the glazed/in a dream look on Alices face.
AnitaInverarity replied
Thank you for looking in such detail- This was one of my first Alice works- I do love the imagery in those stories having grown up with them )))))) xx
Renata Cavanaugh
Excellent and beautiful work

MrJoop
I like the way Alice’s eyes capture the viewer (Well. At least mine.) and then the Cheshire cat’s etc.. (I had pupils, at two different schools perform my version of Alice in Wonderland. Feel a connection with it and this is so well done!!)
AnitaInverarity replied
Thank you so much Mr Joop, what a lovely comment. Were you a drama tutor ? I just adore Alice’s Adventures x
MrJoop
As a primary school teacher, I just made up my version, in 1968, in Bourke (far north west NSW) and then repeated that at the next school (smaller version).
See here:http://www.redbubble.com/people/mrjoop/art/2022089-2-doing-alice-twice

What phenomenal art Anita. How long does a piece like this take you? – I just would not have the patience. You are the one with the amazing imagination. Your name pops up so often with all your favourites, that I must overlook the artwork you upload. You are so talented!!! xxx
AnitaInverarity replied
Aww Karen thank you, that means so much from you. I did this ages ago (I think 2000) Its A3, so it must have taken me quite a while on and off, I try to stick to A4 these days (maybe just one bigger piece a year). I still cannot believe the detail you get in ACEO size (thats quite astounding to me).
Thanks for your very lovely comment xxxx
