Sun On Fire by Anita Donohoe

This is an untouched photo.

The Los Angeles and San Diego County wildfires are burning out of control. I canceled a reunion this weekend in San Diego because of the fires. Too many of our group have been evacuated and the fires burn on. The hurricane force Santa Ana winds should calm down by Friday, when an onshore breeze has been predicted. That will blow the smoke right back where it came from. Air quality is bad because the smoke from the fire has moved all the way up the coast of California.

The sun looked like it was on fire when it set this evening.

Wow, stunning shot!!! Is part of this the effect of the smoke down there? I have some friends in Escondido that are surrounded by fire on 3 sides and are waiting for the evacuation order.

It is Beautiful. Too bad so much tragedy is behind this photo. It shows that nature is so powerful. We are moving to the area this summer and stunned by the devastation.

Yes derid, the color and effect is from the smoke in the air. Even the sun has risen red twice, on Monday and again this morning.

I will hold your family safe in my thoughts.

Thank you all for your appreciation of this image.
Mother Nature is wreaking havoc with the southern California wildfires, but there is a humbling beauty in the effects of the destruction.

this is a tragedy, yet you find the good. and perspective. i say no to this no to the land you capture so well. may you be well my friend. never have i been in such a disastor. we had a horrendous fire here when i had been living in colorado for almost 3 years. you could walk outside and intensity of this smoke was there for months. so i stayed. for one could not forget the taste of the smoke, pets left behind, and houses burned. sometimes i truly hate this force of nature, whatever cause. yet once more what you capture takes one beyond the horizon to see something only you can see. this is beautiful. the fire is not. may you be safe and i shall keep my thoughts high that the weather will do as you said. scary stuff and beauty. thank you anita for opening me to the wyse of nature and no fear. just shed some tears. thanks thrice janet
