Last Goodbye...
This was taken at my brothers funeral in october. My brother passed away on the 18th of July. He in times past showed interest in body donation. His body was donated to science, 4 weeks later we got him back in a box. It took me almost 2 months to open the box that he was sent in. I am not sure why….. Fear of the unknown I guess. It may have been that once was my brother was now a box that was no bigger then 12 by 12 and that was what we are… ash, dust in the wind to say the least. My Grandma stopped in front of the small box that now was my brother to say goodbye. Something that no one is prepared to do.
For every Christian Death is victory not defeat…..

Anibal. This would have to be one of the best photos I have seen. It is just beautiful, the way you have captured the heart & soul of this dear lady, with such clarity & such feeling. It makes me feel so sad to see the pain she is going through, as she clasps her hands together, as if praying to God to make her heartbreak go away. You really should be so proud of this piece…............I am sorry for the pain your family has suffered & I do hope your Grandmother is feeling much better now…..........Hugs from Jenny.

Wow how powerful and emotive.
“Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created. It is a major force in explaining man to man.” ~Edward Steichen

Words can’t describe…
I love your words, “For every Christian Death is victory not defeat…..” I’m blessed by the fact that this is your solace and what you hold onto, and that you apparently walk in the TRUTH. May God be your sustenance and your everything in the tough times.
Anibal replied
Thank you so much Ann.. yes I do believe and trust in Jesus with all my heart and it does bring me comfort…. xo
Steve Hunter
Powerful picture. I too love your words that every Christian death is a victory, not defeat. My wife and I are going through a tough time right now. Her grandmother just passed away last Saturday at the age of 99 years, 8 months. Thanks Anibal
Anibal replied
That is the comfort I have found for the past couple years while the hurdles of deaths are thrown in our direction, ... I believe firmly on Jesus, and the kingdom he has promised his followers in the here after. I am sorry for your loss it is never easy. I speak from experience when i say that, I have lost a sister in 07’, a brother in 08’ and my dad 3 months ago…. here is what I have done to help ease some pain… brothers tribute dads Tribute
Steve Hunter
Wow, very nice job. Great tributes. It’s nice to find someone on here with the same beliefs as myself and my wife. Sounds like you’ve had a rough go of it. Last year I dealt with the death of my cousin. She was murdered by her own husband. What a tragedy.
Anibal replied
Thank yo steve for looking, yeah I do hear allot of people proclaiming to be christians and then not stand by their beliefs… I am glad to hear you are on the same boat as me… Sorry about your cousin, what a horrible thing to go thru yourself…xo
triciamary
I agree with elisab – this is what photography is about. It tells a story – and in this case, such a moving and sad one. I am truly sorry for your loss.
I came across this photo in the “religion” challenge, and I have to admit that I looked at it for a good two minutes before I figured out what the photo was – my eyes just wouldn’t focus on your grandmother, but on the blurred image. Slowly I could make out her hands and her hair, but it just wouldn’t click, till finally, like one of those “magic images” it focused and I found this wonderful shot. You definitely got my vote as I believe all photos should have a story! God bless!
Anibal replied
Hi Sweetie… thank you for taking the time to comment, I too have seen those pictures it is a weird experience to say the least… Much appreciated…:0))
