The old Rose Farm sits in a wheat field on the Gettysburg Battlefield and is one of the original Civil War farm homes that still remain on the Battlefield. I found it evocative in the sombre light of a January day. This was one of my first paintings and is definitely primitive in style, but there was just something I always liked about the mood of it. Many of the old Pennsylvania farm homes have this lonely appearance in winter.

I am a photographer who loves to paint. Or, I am a painter who loves photography? No matter, they are very compatible! :) I really enjoy working in watercolor, and love the magical qualities that it can give to a work of art! You will see photography, watercolor and acrylic paintings on my bubble. Hope you enjoy! :)

My favorite elements are the fence line, the tree shapes and the snow!

  • I think those are my favorite elements as well. Thanks for the great feedback and fave Dan!

    Great work, Angie!!!

  • Thanks Sally! This was one of my first paintings. Now, I might approach it differently, but I still liked something about it enough to share.

Sure is a pretty setting for one of your first Angie! Love the colors and tones! Nicely done!

  • Thanks for the kind comment and fave! It is a rugged area out there on the battlefield. Lots of weeds and brush,as well as scraggly old walnut trees, etc., but I think they have a certain beauty.

Be proud of this one Angie… primitive art has it’s own place in the art world and you did this one up right, love it!!!

  • You have made my day Bob. I hesitated to post this one, but I just always felt it did portray the mood of the spot rather well, in spite of my modest skills at the time. Thanks so much for the kind words and fave!!!!

    Enchanting countryside painting!

  • Yes, this is the rugged old battlefield, and one of my first, and more primitive paintings, but I still liked it well enough to share it. It does show the somber mood of the place in winter. Thanks for the great feedback!
