I captured these golden Jack-O-Lantern mushrooms growing beside a large tree trunk on the Gettysburg Battlefield, Gettysburg, Pa.USA on Sept. 16, 2012. It is a very large type of fungi and was growing in a dense cluster surrounding the tree. The perimeter of fungi was at least six feet wide. The color is natural and only enhanced by late afternoon sunlight. This mushroom has bioluminescent properties, which means it glows in the dark. It is also poisonous, but not lethal.
