I was inspired to do this watercolor by the first snow in Pa. USA on October 29th, very early for snow in our area. The Eastern Phoebe was captured sitting in a tree last winter, and the leaves are on my Dogwood tree this autumn. Hopefully, the boughs will not break due to all the heavy, wet snow. I have to admit the snow is stunning alongside the bright colors of autumn foliage, even though it is an unusual sight in our area at this time of the year.

Winsor and Newton watercolors, Strathmore 140# Coldpress paper

I am a photographer who loves to paint. Or, I am a painter who loves photography? No matter, they are very compatible! :) I really enjoy working in watercolor, and love the magical qualities that it can give to a work of art! You will see photography, watercolor and acrylic paintings on my bubble. Hope you enjoy! :)

What a chilly reminder of what’s to come! It just missed us, but we’re not complaining at all. Glad it inspired you to paint this picture…..guess there’s something good in everything!

  • Thanks Marsha! Well I was trapped indoors, so it seemed a good use of the time. It is very pretty, but I know we may lose some trees. So sad!

    Darn, I thought it was real snow!!! It’s a painting… :o( LOL…Beautiful painting too!!! BTW, I love snow!!! :o)

  • Thanks so much for the great comment and fave!!! Well, you would be in your element here today. It is really snowing hard all over the autumn leaves, which are still on the trees. Unfortunately, we will have branches breaking soon.

Very cute and colorful, Angie! I wonder, if you shook the snow off would it save the tree?
I just got home from work and there are numerous trees broken on my street. I did not
expect to see this! Such a remarkably early storm!

  • We did knock the snow off our dogwood tree three times today and it did save it from breaking. However, many large trees in the area were ruined today. Thanks for the lovely comments!
