This red rose is the last one picked from my rose bush on Nov. 1st, 2010, the last bud remaining, so truly “the last rose of summer” for me! I thought it looked beautiful languishing on green marble in the late afternoon sun.
The Last Rose of Summer was a poem by Irish poet, Thomas Moore, who was a friend of Byron and Shelley. Moore wrote The Last Rose of Summer in 1805 while in County Kilkenny, Ireland. (ref. Wikipedia)
