White Poppy

White Poppy

A little 5 year old girl called Piper gave this to me when I collected her big sister for a play-date at our house. How sweet…and how perfect: it’s like she knew!
I hadn’t photographed a Poppy before, so I had a little play-date of my own :)

Wow YOU Rachel – I’ve never had a shot Favourited within the first minute of posting!!! Thank you for that AND your kind comment :)

tehe, I love how she did that for you and clearly could see that you looked like a lady that need to take some macro shots:) I love how delicate this is. You captured every little detail from the fuzzy bits on the bud to the stem. The light is spot on as always and love that background, perfect colour to accompany this poppy. The composition is also just brilliant. You really have such a brilliant eye Angie, im really loving this shot:)))

  • AngieBel replied

:))) Yes, apparently I have that ‘look’ about me. That’s perfectly normal right? It was the first time I’ve tried a shooting with a background like this so I’m very glad you think it works! Thank you so much for your super kind words and always being so very supportive of my work :)

Excellent … I like how you have the hairs on the stem in focus too … Personally I would have stopped down a little more to get more of the Anthers in focus, but dont take that as anything wrong with your image … The Stigma details are excellent

    Well done

  • AngieBel replied

No offense taken! I appreciate your input :) I did have some others where the anthers were sharper, but then the petals didn’t have the dreamy cloud-like appearance of this shot. In the end, it was the formation of the petals that kept drawing me back to this one, even though I realise that there is perhaps too much OOF area. Marcus saw the image earlier in the week and certainly expressed the same opinion as yours, and I agree! Oh…and thanks for teaching me a new word: “anthers”...it’s so much more efficient than saying “all those green bendy pollen thingies”! :)
