A Soft Touch

A Soft Touch

While I typically love how a macro lens reveals the ‘unseen’ and therefore gravitate toward shots heavy on the detail, I have been wanting to try and capture a completely different ‘feel’ with it lately. A shot that only reveals small areas of detail, yet still shows the form of the subject as only a macro can.

Sometimes, as with life itself, you know when it’s your time to step back a little.

I think, even with a soft touch (or maybe because of it?) true beauty still shines through. At least I hope so! :)

is that what you were after…........?
i suspect you were wanting a great dof…....
    am i right?

  • AngieBel replied

Yes – right on all counts David! I was happy with how this one came out…I just won’t tell you how many shots I discarded :)

    anything worth effort costs deletions…...
    good honesty.
    i like that….

  • AngieBel replied

I like your theory David, and it certainly applies to me! But when Michael posted his exquisite waterfall shot “Let’s Hide Here” the other day he told me it was one of only six shots he took that morning! Absolutely incomprehensible to me :)

  • David Murphy

    David Murphy

    hes fibbing alright?
    god, don’t believe him…....he exaggerates!!
    (don’t you Michael?)
most of us mere mortals take hundred of hopefuls…..
    he”s a show off!!

  • AngieBel replied

He’s not fibbing, I completely believe him, he doesn’t exaggerate & I’m pretty sure he’s not mortal!!! :)))

    David Murphy

......and btw , he takes 6 shots to get out of a bunker….......

    beautiful shot Angie.
that 100mm is a nice macro lens.
you’ve created a beautiful soft feeling to this.

  • AngieBel replied

Thanks Jared! I was definitely after ‘softness’ this time ‘round :)
And yes…the 100 a great Macro lens…in fact…it’s a nice non-macro lens too! Having said that, since purchasing I’ve discovered that the Tamron 90mm is stellar as well…and a little easier on the hip-pocket!

  • Jared Revell

    Jared Revell

    cool.
i haven’t got the 100mm yet, have been lucky enough to borrow one, but my macro you saw was with a reverse ring ~ a cheap way of getting the feel for macro photography.
