This is written with heartfelt Love and fondest memories of our Uncle Dave.
The memory that stands out the most for myself as well as my cousin Roger and some of the other cousins; would most likely be his own device a feeler gage of which he titled “The Belly Button Tool” I was four when I was being a very picky eater at he and Deanna’s House. He went out to his shop without queuing me into what he was doing. When he returned he pulled it out of his pocket and informed me that this was a belly button tool for picky eaters and misbehaving children. If I continued to be a picky eater I would blow away or he would resort to the belly button tool. He informed me that the different sizes were for children of all sizes and that if he engaged this tool to my belly button my arms and legs would fall off. Of course as a child of four I wasn’t wanting to find out if it worked or not. I ate all of Deanna’s potato salad and went on as an adult using the same device to keep my own children as well as others I babysat in Line. I’m sure his feeler gage will go through several generations as it was such an effective way of keeping order.
Uncle Dave also was a great man in his business ventures and I often referred to him as my Uncle Midas, you see he was great with restoration of classic auto’s and I remember seeing his old ugly jalopies turn into vehicles of outstanding beauty; may I add he sold them quite quickly too. His great business mind has been an inspiration. I’ve always held deep respect for Uncle Dave his presence will be deeply missed yet his memories will be something I will forever hold dear in my heart.
