Animal Magic Series Created in mixed media
Salty the sailor rat lives on board a huge ship
My inspiration for all the characters comes from people. Sometimes it is a facial expression, the look in the eye or by someones way of behaving. If it makes me smile or take notice then usually that is enough

Others in the series

Don’t Cry Clarkie

Sleep Frog

Moooooooooody Cow

The Adventures Of Badger & Robin

Artists 4 Artists – Fellow artist Ellen Van Deelan’s photographic work of her beautiful little creatures is stunning. I hope you take a look.

Wow these are cool do you make them up yourself – very impressive.

  • Thanks very much Vee. So funny, while you were writing this I was writing on yours LOL. Yes I do make them up. I love illustrating for childrens books and just have a very vivid imagination and like to try different things

Ha yeah spooky back at ya :o) I started writing some children’s stories but never finished them – the adventures of blue bear – it was a bear someone bought Sam for his birthday…. I took lots of photo’s of him in odd places but never went any further with it. Do you do that for a living of hobby?

Rat with attitude, I love him. Do you create the images of characters first, or do you write the story, then creat the image? I would love to read the story.

  • Thank you Christine for your lovely comments. Usually its the character first, then my imagination really kicks in with the story. Ive only pieced together a plot, but not the full story yet. When my other committments are fulfilled, I shall get to work on it and let you know.
