During the days of light
she is happy and full of joy.
But during the dark night
she is frightened and scared.

She wakes up crying
sometimes screaming
terrified of what’s not there
but to her it is real

I ask her what she sees
and all she says are faces
They are looking at her
but nothing is there

She says that they touch her
and sometimes pulls her covers.
once they took her shirt off
and she woke up screaming

I ask her who THEY are
but she won’t tell me who
she says she can’t see them
cause when she looks they’re gone.

I cry for my daughter
cause I know what’s happening
so I have to get her to talk
so that I can help her

she afraid to tell me anything
I wander why that is
what did her monster tell her
why does she stay silent

please my child talk to me
I love you very much
they can’t hurt you anymore
if you let me help

I don’t want to see you scared
or even hurting anymore
let me catch your monster
and put it to an end

trust me when i reach for you
let me keep you safe
I’ll keep you from harm
the monster will be no more
