Yule Goddess

Yule / Winter Solstice

Yule is the Celtic Festival of the birth of the sun. Winter Solstice is the shortest day and the longest night, but from this day forward the light will grow rather than diminish and the year turns once again towards the Waxing half of the year. In the darkest of nights there is still the silver star of hope and a promise of regeneration. The traditiona of bringing in the Holly,Ivy and Mistletoe at this time of the year is to symbolise that although the land looks cold and dead, life still persisits and the green of Spring and Summer will come again with the stregnthening of the Sun.
