The Jewel (Arsenal)
- Photographic based digital montage – Feb, 2008.
- Created over several hrs…2 nights this week (suffering from concussion) from an accidental fall over the wk’end.
- Photoshop montage combining digital shots of jewels, scanned samples of vintage style wallpaper and added drawn elements. Fifty layers retouched, blended, filtered, colour & tonal curve adjusted.
- I want to use the design as a furniture (upholstering) fine velvet/suede fabric for a small round bedroom foot stool. Nice to spend time on my own artwork. After work husband Dave & I pretty much spend all our spare time renovating/working on our 123yr old vict. terrace…so a bump to the head stopping me in my tracks wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
The Jewel (Arsenal) belongs to the following groups:
PixElations - The Art of Photoshop and Practising the Dark ArtsAvailable for sale as Cards, Matted Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints, Framed Prints and Posters

hehe, cheers danny:)
well i do have concussion from an accidental fall hitting my head hard this past wk’end.
not fun but inspired to create this.

gee whiz Ange if this is what happens when you fall over and hit your head then maybe we should all start falling over. What are you going to do with it? dress fabric or digital screensaver ? its lovely rich colours would look pretty mad on velvet or something like that.
Ange, 7 months ago
hey juilee, well strangely enough ive been looking at re-upholstering a foot stool i have & havent seen any fabric i like as yet. would def be great if i could get this design printed on a suede based one when im done working on it.

I feel incredibly nostalgic when looking at this gorgeous design….I was thinking fabric and I see in your description you are considering uses the design as such.
I really just like this so much…..I can’t pin point all the reasons why, I’m blown away….

Hey Ange
Just a thought…..
Is it called arsenal
because of that puckered black thing in the middle…
OK…i’m off …....duck!!
Ange, 7 months ago
thx lisa:)
not entirely sure why i called it the arsenal danny. the dark roundish areas towards the middle looked like explosions in a landscape of sorts.

Thomas Dodd, 6 months ago
Do you think the fall/concussion shifted your consciousness a bit and inspired this piece’s look? It certainly is a departure from your other work… I like the mixture of order and chaos … beautifully muted tones and elegantly-textured… reminds me of “the Wars in Heaven”...
Ange in reply to Thomas Dodd’s comment, 6 months ago
quite possibly yes. but i cannot entirely be sure either:) order & chaos spot on…its what i always try to achieve in artwork of this nature.

I read the comment before I really looked at this, and it looks like concussion.
It’s kinda swimmy and there’s a crunch in there too.
This is what concussion would be like if it were a fun thing.
A nice thing.
Hmmm, shut up mike.

This is so intriguing Ange, very organic it has real texture. So much to look at without being crowded, it all flows.
