The Ribbon that Ties and Binds

I still have The Ribbon

The Ribbon that Ties and Binds belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical

In tying the knot
You left love behind
Not to be too unkind

As soon as you had made the pledge
I knew you were so close to the edge
And as the children danced around you
The secret was known by so few

The children wove a silk ribbon
Around you both
I watched you plight your troth

The children tied the ribbon into a knot
They were happy, I was not

I thought it was a big mistake
Knowing she was such a fake
As the ribbon fell to the ground
No one saw the depth of my frown

I picked up that length of silk
And watched the flowers start to wilt

And to this day
It is hiddden away
So that the marriage
Will not fade away

As long as I keep that ribbon
They will stay married and live on
Until I decide that it is over
Or should I live their own hell
Together,
Forever?
