Conan The Librarian

Weider than a weird thing
Was he Mark Bolan’s son?
He couldn’t play like him
So I guess not

He and his mate Dave
Played a four hour set
In ‘The Stage’
After half an hour of ‘playing’
I wanted to stick needles in my eyes

My friend Gordon
Was serving drinks
Behind the bar,
Now he can play guitar
He wanted to strangle this duo
Before they made him spew

Then Conan really started
To rock and roll
In a librarian kind of way
Jumping up and down
Like a demented frog
Until all of his pens and pencils
Flew out of his tweed Jacket
Hmm, I thought,
Weird pyrotechnics

After a much needed break
Dave emerged as Elvis
(The Las Vegas years)
In a jump suit that did nothing
But enhance his gut

Thank God when they finished
‘American Trilogy’
Its over, Its all over
Now can we get back to some semblance
Of sanity

Next day I thought I had had a bad dream
Then the phone rang
It was Dave
‘What did you think of my Elvis?’
Hmm ‘I thought you weren’t a bad Roy Orbison’

Ah yes, the local talent night at the pub, how fantastic, reminds me of Johnny fingers who used to dress up in a tropical shirt and run up and down to the band, he did his own style of dancing and was a part of the act in the end, as everyone asked where he was, on the only occassion he didn’t turn up.

  • he he, what was the name of the band Trace?
