Moving to Oz by Andrew Robertson

Posted on July 19, 2010

Just wanted to share some news and hopefully get some advice from my Australian cousins on Red Bubble.

I have accepted a job offer in NSW and am currently in the process of going through the 457 visa application process. So excited at the thought of moving to OZ and giving my family the chance of a lifetime……

Hoping to be out in Oz end August / beginning September to start the new job. Bit of a mindfield looking at property etc so if anyone has any suggestions for nice areas in the western suburbs of Sydney then please let me know. I am going to be working in Huntingwood so any nice places east or south of there? (Camden, Harrington Park, Mount Annan etc)…….

I’ll have the help of a real estate agent once I’m out there but would be good to get an idea before I land.

Thanks so much
Andy

Some unkind people would say that there are no nice areas in the western suburbs of Sydney… :-) Certainly the surrounding areas such as Blacktown, Mt Druitt and St Mary’s do not have good reputations. I would probably be looking at further west – Emu Plains/Emu Heights or northeast – Baulkham Hills. If you don’t mind more of a commute, the inner west is my favourite part of Sydney – anywhere from Ashfield/Haberfield eastwards. I lived in the Newtown/Stanmore area for almost 10 years and loved it. Send me a bubblemail if you have any other questions. Best of luck!
